Despite living in the most advanced age in human history, millions of people struggle with stress, anxiety, dissatisfaction and sadness.

In Chapter 2, Verse 14 of the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says to Arjuna:”O son of Kunti, happiness and sorrow arise from contact between the senses and their objects. They are temporary, like the changing seasons of heat and cold. Therefore, learn to endure them patiently.”

Greed is an endless desire for more. The more a person becomes trapped in greed, the closer they move toward their downfall. Sometimes, greed not only harms the individual but also destroys the peace of the entire family.Money is necessary for life, but a blind attachment to wealth often becomes the root cause of suffering. History and modern society both show that greed has taken away the peace, relationships, and respect of countless people.

In today’s world, many people no longer compete in a healthy way; instead, they become consumed by jealousy toward others.Healthy competition improves our abilities and motivates us to grow. Jealousy, however, destroys inner peace. When we become jealous of another person’s success, we stop focusing on our own progress. It weakens us from within and slowly becomes a constant source of sadness.

When a person becomes excessively attached to physical attractions and short-term pleasures, they often lose focus on their responsibilities, goals, and true purpose in life.

What may begin as a temporary source of pleasure can gradually consume valuable time, energy, money, and peace of mind.Whether someone is a student, an employee, or a business owner, a lack of self-control creates a severe imbalance in life.

It directly affects personal growth, relationships, character, and future success. Many people sacrifice long-term happiness for short-term gratification, only to realize later that they have drifted far away from their true goals.

Desires themselves are not the problem. The real problem begins when desires start controlling us instead of us controlling them. A balanced life requires self-discipline, wisdom, and moderation.

When a person learns to control their desires rather than becoming a slave to them, they gain greater peace, clarity, and happiness.

In today’s digital world, people constantly compare their lives with others. Social media has accelerated this destructive habit. We see the curated success of others, but we do not see their internal struggles. As a result, we become deeply dissatisfied with our own achievements.”The day a person starts comparing themselves only with their past self, half of their sadness disappears.

Even the richest people in the world often remain deeply unhappy. This is because everyone lacks something in life. The person who has money may lack time.The person who has time may lack money.The person who has both may lack good health.

Many people sacrifice their health, family, and peace of mind in the endless race to earn more money, forgetting that health is life’s greatest wealth. This chain of dissatisfaction never ends.

A person without anything envies the one who has a bicycle.The bicycle owner envies the person with a motorcycle.The motorcycle owner envies the person with a car.The car owner envies the person with a personal plane .Yet, sometimes the person with the personal plane is miserable because they cannot even sit peacefully with their family to enjoy a meal, while a simple family in a village lives happily with limited resources.

We often expect far too much from people, situations, and even from ourselves. When those unrealistic expectations are not fulfilled, disappointment and sadness naturally follow.Set high goals and work hard, but do not become overly attached to the results. The fewer expectations we carry, the fewer disappointments we face. Keep doing your duty, but do not make success or failure a matter of life and death. Sometimes life does not give us what we want; it gives us exactly what we need.

On the other hand, contentment, gratitude, self-control, and positive thinking help us remain strong even during the most difficult times. Happiness and sadness are like the two wheels of life. Just as night follows day, happiness inevitably follows sorrow.God has given every person the strength to overcome difficulties. We only need to believe in ourselves, continue our efforts, and accept that not everything in life is under our control.
